Manila – Our Lady of Fatima University completes a second-half comeback to break the hearts of Colegio de San Lorenzo, 50-48, to become the NCR leg champions at the PCCL National Collegiate Championship that was held in La Consolacion College – Manila.
CDSL started the second half came off hot in the second half with a 13-0 run and take an 11-point lead but OLFU countered with an 11-2 run to keep the game on a striking distance and they just trail by just 2 points.
Bryan Cabrera scored 8 straight points for OLFU including two straight three-point baskets as his team take back the lead with 4:25 to go in the half.
CDSL started another run that put them on top by 4 points but Nikko Panganiban won’t let the game slip by sinking two-straight three-point bombs to edge out their opponents with a 2-point victory.
Cabrera was hailed as the player of the game with his finals performance of 29 points while making 7 three-point baskets. Panganiban provided the added offense with 15 points – all of which was scored from the three-point arc.
Noel Santos was CDSL’s best player with 16 points and 5 rebounds.
Diliman College placed at 3rd place in the tournament while La Consolacion finished at 4th place.
Other teams that participated in the tournament were Manila Tytana Colleges, St. Clare College of Caloocan, PATTS School of Aeronautics, St. Dominic College of Asia, De La Salle Araneta University and AMA University.
The best shooter of the NCR leg was also named as the top performer in the tournament. Three-point sniping Cabrera averaged 20.7 points and sank 4.8 threes per game.
His best shooting performance was against De La Salle Araneta University where he scored 30 points and grabbed 7 rebounds while draining 9 three-point bombs.
Cabrera and Panganiban, together with Dave Diao and Jeff Espiritu will now earn the right to represent the Luzon Region in the 3-on-3 National Finals that will be held on February of 2018.
