Another fast start was all the San Beda Red Lions needed in order to thwart the De La Salle Green Archers, 79-35, in the second contest of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League Elite Eight’s Sunday proceedings.
Behind solid play on both ends of the floor, the Red Lions established an 18-7 lead at the conclusion of the first quarter. Since then, the game was never in question as the Mendiola-based squad dominated in nearly every major statistical category. San Beda had a +26 rebounds, +12 assists, +5 steals, +32 points in the paint, and -7 turnover advantage over DLSU.
Clint Doliguez and Calvin John Oftana led the Lions’ charge with 12 points apiece.
By finishing with an unblemished 3-0 record in the Group B elimination round, the Red Lions will advance to the crossover Final Four, which starts tomorrow at the Filoil Flying V Arena, along with the 2-1 San Sebastian Stags.
